Half you can plan, other half you have to live

Jouko Astor

We are often being asked who had planned this and how was this planned and I often say that when we want to create real new things, it’s not only question of planning or making good reports or something like that. You have to always also live your progression. Only half you can plan and the other half you have to live. It has been like this also here - when we started, we had a plan and a vision but all this was developing all the time and we have found many new things to improve the original idea. When you do this kind of development project, it’s not only about your ideas. You have to read and listen and learn from other people, not only cultural professionals but also audience - what they want. In fact I think it is not so important that you know who you are and what you want. It’s more important to know and to recognize where you are - what is your environment, what is happening in your municipality. It’s much more important to find these relations than write down personal visions or personal definitions what some centre is or is not.
