Founder of Centre for Cities and Creativity

Jacob Urup Nielsen is a founder of Centre for Cities and Creativity. This centre is uniquely interested in how creativity in its many different forms can enhance life in cities. He studied English at the Aarhus Universitet (Denmark) and during one semester also at University College in Cork. Jacob is communication professional with a wide experience in communicating to different audiences, he has worked in the field of creative and knowledge economy for the past 10 years. After his first work experience as a receptionist (1997-99), he worked as a localizer (1999-2001) for L & H Mendez and Cognosco. Later he worked as Information officer at British Council – Denmark (2001-2006), he was responsible also for the website and the IT infrastructure in the office. He has also one year-experience as an International Adviser & Administrator at Anglia Ruskin University. In 2007 he returned to British Council, this time as Partnerships and Projects Manager (until 2012). In next couple of years Jacob has worked as a consultant (2012, Center of Culture and Experience Economy), advisor (since 2012, Kulturiværk), he has been a board member of Centre for Local Economic Strategies (since 2012) and in March 2012 he founded Centre for Cities and Creativity. Jacob speaks (besides Danish – native) English, Swedish and German.
