Two pillars of good policy

Tom Fleming

If you want to develop a really vibrant creative economy, there are two things you need to do. One, you need to develop the knowledge and tools around the sector. If you don’t know what you’ve got, go and find out what you‘ve got. Do some mapping, explore what you are good at. Second, you need to work with the sector. The sector needs to feel loved, to feel that it is important. So work with the sector and then you can create something amazing. I think in the future the creative industries or the creative economy more generally will play a major role in every city of any size across Europe, because it concerns the things that connect us together as communities and as a society – no one wants to live in a boring, unexciting, uncreative environment.
